January 26, 2026 Assess HR Functions, Services, and Strategies Update
POSO is now in Phase 3 of this transformation.
A key component of this new structure is the creation of four specialized functional areas within POSO, including the Partnerships team. The Partnerships team will serve as consultative, embedded partners aligned with colleges and divisions across the university. This team will:
- Collaborate closely with colleges and divisions to align POSO strategies with institutional and unit‑level goals;
- Provide support for recruitment and workforce planning activities;
- Serve as a liaison between university units and POSO’s central teams; and
- Assist units in navigating people‑related processes and planning for current and future workforce needs.
As part of this transition, selected employees will begin moving into POSO roles starting in January 2026. During this period, employees transitioning into POSO will participate in onboarding and orientation activities while continuing to report to their current supervisors and support their units as transition plans are developed. Reporting lines are expected to change in May 2026.
The POSO onboarding experience will include:
- Orientation sessions to introduce POSO’s services, teams, and operating model;
- Meetings with POSO leadership and team members;
- Team‑building activities within functional areas; and
- Opportunities to connect with POSO staff across the department.
Throughout this process, POSO is committed to working collaboratively with campus leadership to ensure thoughtful transition planning, continuity of services, and support for both affected employees and their units. We recognize that organizational change can be challenging, and we remain committed to fostering a culture of care, partnership, and transparency throughout this transition.
This is an exciting step forward as POSO continues to evolve its structure and service delivery model, including the development of the Partnerships team as a best‑practice approach to human resource services with a strong emphasis on workforce success.w, innovative approach to provide services that foster workforce success and a better experience for the ECU community.
