September 3, 2025 Deploy Faculty Effectively Through Thoughtful Workload Planning Update

The Faculty Workload Reporting Workgroup met throughout 2025 to ensure ECU’s compliance with timelines, deadlines, and processes outlined in the Policy on Faculty Workload (400.3.4) and related Regulation on Faculty Workload (400.3.4.[R]), and ECU was able to report full compliance to the UNC System Office at both checkpoints during the last academic year. The initial activities of the workgroup laid a beginning foundation for campus procedures and the group will use what was learned during this first year of policy requirements for continued refinement of those processes.

Also pursuant to policy, the Workgroup has liaised with appropriate units on campus to compile the institutional annual report. The report will summarize ECU’s application of the workload policy over the last year and include supporting quantitative and qualitative data aligned with a template provided by the UNC System Office. This report will be authorized by the Board of Trustees in early October before submission to the UNC System Office by October 15, 2025.
