September 3, 2025 Increase Environmental Efficiency and Reduce Operating Costs Update

ECU has temperature standards that have been in place for over 15 years. The university balances occupants’ comfort with maximizing energy efficiencies. Facilities will take a closer look at the building schedule and temperature setbacks when buildings are unoccupied.

Facilities will continue to invest in energy savings in appropriate technology to retrofit, retro-commission, or replace building systems to increase water and energy efficiency.

Other areas under review include motor fleet reductions (both leased and owned), storage leases, and various other contractual service agreements.
